Jan work’s in many genres of music, R&B, Hip-Hop, Pop, Jazz, Gospel and Country as a producer, recording engineer, mixing engineer, composer and musician. He’s considered one of the premier recording/mixing engineers in Los Angeles. His early entry into the digital recording and mixing fields put him at the forefront of the recording and mixing world. He’s worked at major recording studios in Los Angeles, New York, Paris, Miami, Atlanta, Toronto, Orlando and Chicago. He’s won two Grammy’s for my mixing work. One for Norman Brown-Best Pop Instrumental Album and the other for Gladys Knight- Best Traditional R&B Album with producer Randy Jackson (American Idol) and been nominated for a number of others.
He is currently writing and producing songs with Charlie Midnight (best known for co-writing Livin In America for James Brown and writing and producing Hillary Duff). He has written songs with legendary songwriter Arthur Hamilton (best known for “Cry Me A River”} written and produced songs with pop superstar Michael Bolton, Peggy Gordon (best known for writing “By My Side” from Godspell) among many others. I also co-wrote the musical Cradle Song which had a workshop production at Musical Theater Works in NYC. The workshop was directed by Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Enchanted, Godspell). Goodspeed-at-Chester also mounted a production of the show and there was a limited Off-Broadway production done as well. Two country songs he co-wrote have recognition. “Come to Me” was a winner in the NCSI/CMT awards and Heartbreak Row was honored by the Austin Songwriters Organization.
Jan started playing music at a very early age, attending the prestigious Manhattan School of Music where he majored in trombone and minored in piano. He was very involved in the early development of pop superstar Michael Bolton’s career, writing and producing songs with him for a number of years and was the in house recording engineer at Michael’a private recording studio in Westport CT from 1993-1996.
His body of work includes recording and mixing for many top selling artists around the world including Mos Def’s “The Ecstatic (nominated for a 2009 Gammy for best rap album), the soundtrack for the documentary film “Soundtrack For A Revolution” featuring John Legend, The Roots, Wyclef, Richie Havens, Mary Mary and Anthony Hamilton with the Blind Boys Of Alabama, two songs on the 2010 Juno Award winner for Best Artist K’Naan’s CD Troubadour, Japanese superstar Tetsuya Komuro, Estelle, David Banner and Go Loco for Ron Artest featuring George Lopez, Aventura and Fat Joe. Currently Jan is working with multi award winning producer Chad Hugo as his Los Angeles based engineer.

Record Producers worked with include Mutt Lange (Shania Twain, Def Leopard), Randy Jackson (American Idol), T-Pain, The Neptunes, Bryan Michael Cox (Mary J Blige, Usher), Warryn Campbell (Mary Mary, Dru Hill, Kelly Price), Walter Afanasieff (Mariah Carey, Michael Bolton, Kenney G) and legendary engineer/producer Tom Dowd (Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Eric Clapton) who asked me to move to Miami to be his assistant at then Criteria Studios (now the Hit Factory Miami).
He’s also recorded and mixed songs for the Miramax films Shall We Dance Spy Kids, Ella Enchanted, Get Over It and On The L, Devotional Music projects: “Anjali” and “Arpan” both live CD recordings of legendary Indian Bhajan singer Bramacharini Mirabai, “I Will Sing Thy Name” a live double CD of devotional chants with traditional Indian kirtan instruments, “When My Dreams Dream Is Done” and “Light The Lamp Of Thy Love” both live CD’s of devotional chants with traditional Indian kirtan instruments and “Where Golden Dreams Dwell” an instrumental CD.
