As well as being one of Ireland’s most-highly regarded musical artists, Nick Kelly is also a Clio-winning advertising creative and an Oscar-shortlisted film-maker. While wearing his advertising hat he has been responsible for selecting and commissioning music for such diverse clients as Guinness, Walkers Crisps, the Telecom Eireann IPO and the Green Party. IN recent years he has become increasingly well-known as a writer and director. His third short film “Shoe” was shortlisted to the last 10 films in the Live Action Short category at at the 2011 Academy Awards, and he currently in post-production on his first feature “The Drummer And The Goalkeeper”. Nick has composed and performed music for both ads and movies. Nick originally qualified as a solicitor, before first coming to public prominence with his band The Fat Lady Sings. He subsequently won many accolades as a self-releasing solo artist and was an early pioneer of crowd-funding. In his most recent musical guise, Alien Envoy, he was voted Ireland’s #3 songwriter (after Hozier and Damien Rice) in the latest Hot Press Annual Readers’ Poll.
