Songwriter, painter and youth arts practitioner
Carol Keogh is a songwriter and visual artist, who has been making music since the mid-90s. Carol started out fronting bands, first with The Plague Monkeys, subsequently with The Tycho Brahe and Autamata. Her debut solo album, Mongrel City, was released in 2014 and another current project is The Natural History Museum, a collaboration with electro-acoustic composer Sunken Foal. A trained visual artist, Carol returned to painting relatively recently, after many years away from the medium, and her first solo exhibition since college was held in tandem with her album launch in 2014.
Carol also works as a youth arts practitioner, collaborating with young people around the country on musical and visual arts projects. She believes that in an age of changing values and challenges for artists, grass roots activism and communal activity help us to create pathways. She says, “A good back-scratch always makes life easier.”
