Owner of Wingnut Records and Parlour TV presenter.
Ray Cuddihy hails originally from Cork but now resides in Galway. His independent record store Wingnut retails out of Book & Candle in Galway, Moviedrome in Limerick, Kieran’s Books & Stuff in Waterford City, Sound Factory in Athlone and Music Maker on Exchequer Street in Dublin. He is also a presenter on Parlour TV, a web-based a television series covering independent musicians and artists from Ireland and beyond, which is recorded weekly before a studio audience in Dublin venue, Whelan’s.
Of his flagship Galway store, Ray says, “I really felt that it was something that Galway needed and it could work also to support Irish artists, labels and collectives. Wingnut is a very DIY job, done for the right reasons and supported by brilliant people.” Of Parlour TV he says, “The Parlour crew is a sharing of music and skills and the craic. Along the way we make a TV show. We aim to make a show that reflects as wide a range of sounds, genres, music as we can… we understand that it is a duty of ours to put a spotlight on the consistently ignored and most interesting music that is made in this country.”
