He is a frequent speaker, interviewer and moderator at leading industry conferences around the world including FestForward, (where h e serves on their Advisory Board) IMFCON, SF Music Tech, Midem, CMJ, MUCON, Canadian Music Week and others.
David’s deep music marketing experience includes senior positions held at leading digital distributor The Orchard,; Warner Music Group, MTV Networks,; Universal Music Group; Putumayo World Music; and Wind-up Records where, as Executive VP of Sales and Marketing, he created and directed the marketing and release campaigns for multi-platinum Grammy winners Evanescence as well as for Creed, Seether, and Finger 11.
While SVP Marketing at Universal Classics, David created and managed the release campaigns for Broadway soundtracks including Mamma Mia and Seussical the Musical, working with artists such as Andrea Bocelli, Renee Fleming, and Luciano Pavarotti.
As Senior VP Marketing for Putumayo World Music, David established the label as the globe’s #1 world music brand, launching the label in over 100 countries. David co-produced and sold all sponsorships for The Putumayo World Music Hour, a weekly radio show broadcast on over 170 stations. He also negotiated strategic marketing alliances with American Express, Louisiana Office of Tourism, and dozens of music export offices and music and cultural festivals around the world.
David has booked festival, arena, casino, theater, performing arts centers, and club engagements for artists ranging from Sandra Bernhard, WuTang Clan, Lil Kim, Peter Murphy, Flock of Seagulls, Vanilla Ice, Lucha Libre USA (Mexican wrestling phenomenon and MTV2 show), and the Jersey Boys original Broadway Cast.
David’s experience at music marketing and sponsorship agencies includes US Concepts; Warner Music Group’s Warner Custom Music where he conceived The Legends of Rock & Roll joint venture with the US Postal Service; and EMCI / Rockbill, including a term at their London, UK offices developing global music marketing campaigns for clients such as Converse, Philips N.V., and Pepe Jeanswear.
