How the Music Cooperative is Helping People Discover New Artists
By Jordan Medina youbloom is a global music cooperative network that is committed to helping new and emerging artists gain fans and start playing shows. Despite the ongoing pandemic that has prevented many artists from playing live shows for over two years, youbloom is committed to bringing live music experiences back. Brandy Corlett spoke about her experiences as a fan of youbloom artists. Brandy also works as a Show Creator for youbloom, and has a multitude of experiences in the music industry under her belt, including writing blogs for youbloom, which can be found here. Show Creators work as partners with youbloom to help put on shows, and are a part of the booking, producing, and promotional processes for youbloom’s live experiences. “I found youbloom on Indeed.com while I was searching for jobs within the music industry,” says Corlett. “Through youbloom, I’ve been able to discover Ashley Pater.” Pater is an award winning singer-songwriter from British Columbia, Canada who performs alternative pop music. “Attending virtual shows as a fan was definitely a highlight, especially during the pandemic that shut the music industry down,” emphasizes Corlett. I attended almost all of youbloom’s virtual shows last year on Zoom. I wrote a review about their first virtual world tours. Each Show Creator did a Q&A with each act after their performance, so it was engaging for the audience to participate during the virtual show. The audience was worldwide, allowing fans to connect from all over the world as well as the artists and bands.” When asked about youbloom’s work, Corlett expressed praise youbloom’s model. “The artist requesting model is a great way for fans to bring artists and bands to their city. Fans get to help emerging artists and bands grow their fanbase.” To apply to become a Show Creator for your city, apply on our website, and be sure to check out our Spotify playlists to discover your next favorite artist!
