Superstars like Psy, Justin Bieber, and Weeknd were all found on YouTube. If you're interested in getting your music to millions of people globally, then you need to create a YouTube channel.
  1. Join Last.fm
One of the easiest ways of getting new fans to be obsessed with your music is by adding your music to Last.fm. Last.fm makes it easy for users to add your music to their playlist along with popular bands that they already love and listen to. One of the ways of getting the most out of Last.fm is by joining groups related to your genre or region. This is one of the ways of reaching out to reaching out to the right people who will like your band or make recommendations for your band.
  1. Be active on Reddit Music
Reddit is known as the front-page of the internet. Anything that goes viral on Reddit will go viral globally. With Reddit Music, new musicians can share their music to get a genuine feel and feedback from the community. You do need a tough skin when the criticisms come barging down on your door. Be respectful and authentic and you will do just great.   Here are our top rules for sharing music on Reddit as a new musician:
  • Be honest and human.Use your own account and be honest about what you do.Don't use a fake account pretending to be a random fan who just found the new Ed Sheeran. Show people that you are real and they will identify with you.

Just like Last.fm, you need to join Spotify so your music can be included in their huge library of artists. Spotify takes the listening experience for users to a whole new level. They have a tool called Discover that allows users to find music similar to the ones they are currently playing. Playlisting is the process where music fans find new artists via a curated playlist. Everyone has a playlist including top music influencers. Find a way to connect with popular playlists or those within your niche. Follow them and show appreciation. Be the fan. Don't pitch. Get geeky and friendly. Establish a relationship. Once this is done, contact the playlist curators and make a pitch for your music.

Twitter is still being used by millions of people to discover music. As a new musician, you can allow them to discover your music by using hashtags that relate to your genre like #music #country. Also be active on hot music hashtag days like #MusicMonday when searching for new exposure. One unwritten rule with Twitter that says "if you share my content, I will share your". Don't always go online expecting people to share and follow you. Interact with other people and share their music as well. The trick here is to stick within your niche. So if you love rock music.
